The signing time products have made a huge impact on my autistic son who is non-verbal. I have a suggestion for those who want to use the color coded fingers like Rachel does. Instead of tape, buy some orange and blue nail polish and just paint your finger nails. :)

A TREASUR NOT TO PASS, NOT TO MISS.

I am the mother of a 14 months old baby who does not have a challenge. BUT I am Thrilled to have bought the entire collection of signing time even though she can hear. I thought it was very expensive for the cheap stake that I am but I can now scream and yell to everyone not to stop because of the price. The price is absolutely nothing in comparison to the greatness of all the materials of signing times.

My 14 months old baby speaks to me with her hands, ho my!!!

I offered my baby FREEDOM, freedom to speak to me before she can speak. Freedom to express herself.

I don't want her to watch TV just yet so I watch the DVD while she sleeps and teaches her the signs the next day. I am having fun to watching the DVD's a all lot to.

Thanks to the flash cards we have so so so much fun with them. Her attention span last a very very long time cause we are busy testing... and I praise her so much every time she got the sign rights, and she gets excited and the game goes on and on.

The books are fabulous. I don't know about anyone else but I had a very very hard time reading her stories that are all dreading to me, and she cannot take it either even so she ASK to have a book read. Now with our signing time books, I LOVE TO READ THE SIGNING TIME books and she wants to be read at all along the day. They are the only books I can read to her from when she opens her eyes until she goes back to bed because they are simple super well made with big clear colorful drawings and we both interact which makes the books . Signing times book are for me the only books I am enjoying and she with me.

The CD's great to practice all the vocabulary while we are in the car except that I the driver want to participate but i should not remove my hands from the wheel.

All in all when I decided to buy the entire collection I thought the flash cards and CD's would be a waist but it is the complete oppose. It gives life to the DVD's because they makes us interact, communicate, practice and play.

I have never been happyer in my life that with the signing time collection.

Nadia and baby girl Carla 14 months and another one on the way.

Thank You!

I had gotten the baby einstein signing dvds at my baby shower and loved them. I was quickly disappointed that there were so few of them. I browsed the local library for other and stumbled across Signing Time. I instantly fell in love with the catchy songs and the ease in which my daughter picked up on it. I now have 2 girls (4yrs & 8months) who are 100% enamored with Signing Time. Neither NEED to learn ASL, but love it. My 4yr old calls it our "secret talk" that no one knows. I love it!! Thank you so much for bringing this into our lives :)

This is the first review I have ever given on a product. I feel these dvd's are absolutely worth the money, so I felt I needed to give feedback to those reluctant. We had three dvd's and decided to order the whole first set. GREAT INVESTMENT. These movies do not get old to watch, are amusing AND educational. I purchased them for my son who is autistic. Now, his younger toddler siblings have taken to these and have joined him in watching. They do signs now to him and know all the words to the opening theme song...which I must admit is catchy and sing-songy. I would encourage these to anyone interested in expanding or learning signs. It is amazing how easy it is to catch on...and how enjoyable these dvd's are! We will be ordering the next collection shortly :)

Years ago when I took ASL in college, part of our curriculum was to watch Signing Time. When my son was over a year old and becoming increasingly frustrated with communication because he was not yet talking, I went back to this show to relearn what I had forgotten. It's been the only show that my son will watch, and he loves imitating all the signs! He'll repeatedly ask for "music" "cracker" because he loves the "Eat and Drink" song. Watching his once frustrated face overjoyed from learning a new sign, and being able to communicate with him now, is amazing.

I decided to buy the complete set as it was on sale, and couldn't be happier with that choice. Even though my son has started to talk, I want him to continue learning ASL so I thought of the entire set as a great investment. I can't wait to see what all is in store!

It is expensive but it's reusable, enjoyable, educational and FUN! The kids really don't seem to notice that the cartoons aren't 3 dimensional or fancier. The only complaints I've noticed are from adults. Its simple fun learning. I love that the disc repeats automatically. The volumes are a welcome repetitive sound in my home. Thank you Signing Time staff for all you have done!

This product has been a fun way to learn sign language for both my 11 month old daughter, the 1 1/2 yr old boy I nanny for and my friends kids... it has been very easy for me to learn too. The songs stick in your head and I wake up singing them or sing them to the kids throughout the day. Sadly, the price is way too EXPENSIVE. I would love to purchase the next collection but I can't afford to... Especially in this market and in this economy. If they lower the price I'm sure more people would purchase this product.

I have an in-home child care with both an Infant/Toddler program and a Preschool program. I started using Signing Time! with my daughter, making my first purchase before she was born. I now have 2 complete sets of all the DVDs (one for the classroom and one for my parents to check out). I work with children who has special needs. The kids love signing and watching a child who was not suppose to be able to communicate, learn to sign and communicate, is priceless. The kids love the books and flashcards. They reinforce both the signing and reading. I highly recommended all of the products in the collection.

I absolutely love BST, but think they are extremely expensive. I believe that if you would lower the price and get a contract with Target or Wal-Mart these DVD's would become a MUST need for every single household.....you could make a killing! I am currently buying them on Amazon and Ebay for a whole lot less. We have the first three BST DVD's and LOVE them. My daughter is amazing and has a large vocabulary for a 13month old!

We have thourgouhly enjoyed this collection and assert that our childrens ability to articulate and speak well are largely attributed to Signing Time! When the beginning jingle comes on kids immediately recognize it and hunker down to watch an episode. My wife tended two girls under the age of four in addition to ours one day of the week. The first thing they both said after their parents dropped them off, "Signing Time, Signing Time, we want to watch Signing Time." I also want to endorse Rachel Azevedo-Coleman, her sister and father for wonderful lyrics and music. I enjoy the music! Whether driving or at home its easy to be silly and entertaining to kids using the plethora of great music in this collection.

I learned about Signing Time through a recommendation by my local librarian and checked one of the DVD's out. I noticed immediately that it was much more entertaining to my 3 year old son than other signing DVD's, was better put together, and more educational. I love how Rachel is very friendly and warm, while explaining the signs in an easy way for kids to understand. The girl I babysit who is 2 actually went to her home and taught her parents and sisters how to sign Good Morning! Now both my son and she requests to watch Signing Time. As a mom, I love that the songs and general tone is not annoying and I don't mind listening to it over and over again. I will keep working my way through the DVD's at the library until hopefully one day I can afford them all. My only complaint really is the price, so if there is any way to get it cheaper I would jump to grab them. For others contemplating this product, get it now! You will thank yourself for it later. I actually think this should be in every school and every home.

My husband is deaf and I am hearing. We are trying to teach our son sign language so that they (my husband and son) do not have to rely on me to assist in their communication. Baby Signing Time has been a wonderful experience for our family. I have to agree with others that the cost is quite expensive and it would be nice to see these DVD's offered at a lower cost. I feel that way with many things related to sign language. I also love Hopkins but I think at times, he is not properly mannered on the DVD's. It is cute that he burps and the kids (Alex & Leah) laugh. However, my son has also picked up on that and instead of saying "Excuse Me", he laughs.

It's amazing how many words she can sign and how advanced her vocabulary is. She seems to learn the words often right along with the sign - beyond other kids her age. Absolutely love them!!

I LOVE the signing time dvds. My twins and later my 26 week preemie love them still. They were all able to communicate before the average child is verbal. I absolutely feel learning sign language has given them a leg up on language and speech skills. My little guy with many issues is at grade level and I am convinced that intense early intervention - of which sign language was a part - is responsible.

I have a 3yr old with SID and Apraxia of Speech. If it wasn't for my cousin (who lives elsewhere), we would never have access to some of these videos. With all the therapy & medical bills we have no extra funds. There is also only one signing time video in our entire area of libraries, and there are no schools or therapists that know any sign language in our area and nothing in the public or private school system. I have no idea what they do to help deaf children here.....seems like there aren't any since there is such a huge lack of resources. Anyway, signing time has help my son to communicate better, although some of his signs are approximations just like whatever is coherent in his speech. Unfortunately, he still relies a lot on me (and his older brothers who are picking up some sign language) to translate his needs to others since apparently nobody knows signing around here.

I would love my kids to watch these movies but I can't afford to bring them home.

I used to watch this on PBS every Saturday with my oldest daughter. I loved spending 30 minutes with her learning and teaching her the signs on the show. Glad I found this website. My only complaint is how expensive these learning materials are. This use to be free on TV and now I feel they are ridiculously expensive. The songs are great to teach to my students and they learn quickly, but I can't afford the whole set at once.

They are instrumental and fabulous. My first child by one could sign 200 words and had the whole ABC (Disc 5) DVD memorized and could predict the coming signs by 18mo. I highly recommend these to ANY one wanting to learn sign language in a quick and fun way. I would love to see the price come down, but I cannot say that I believe they are too pricey. Compared to other language programs I would say for the success that this has on all ages it is well worth the cost. I only wish that I had foreseen the importance of the flash cards/collection before buying individual. Next time money comes my way that will definitely be an investment we will go with.

I think that this is a very great product. As a single mom I want to give my children the world and I find that more difficult than the average two parent family might. I would love to buy the whole set for my children but it is way out of our budget. If it weren't for the library I would not be able to expose my babies to the opportunity of sign language. I just hate that I have to wait my turn. These DVDs are very popular and hard to get ahold of!

I just wanted to add, after reading other comments, that you get what you pay for people! First off, if one is to buy any DVD out there it is expected to be around the $20 price range. When you do the math of 26 DVDs you are looking at $520. Next, you are adding books and cds to the mix. So, is $850 really too much to ask for the entire collection? I think not!! If for no other reason you are getting the best signing education for your children. I dare any of you to pay for signing classes for your children that aren't nearly as detailed as these DVDs, for cheaper money.

Rachel, and everyone involved in making these DVDs, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your work is amazing :)

We have been watching sigining time since my 2 year old was 9 mth. She only signs for her form of communication. She has bonded with Alex and Leah, even Hopkins. However, with her love for the DVD's comes damage. She has scratched a few, we have to thank grandma for the frist set. But, we are unable to replace the broken/scratched DVD's. Too expensive. That make for one sad 2 year old. I would be willing to pay 13.00 -15.00 but, I just can't budget for what they are offering. I hope these reviews are read and taken in to account. You would have a much stronger following if prices were more realalistic.

There is NO other signing training I would use... Ever! We started signing with our 3rd son for no reason other than a little easier communication at a younger age. I of course knew a couple basics since a couple friends used them with their babies. My son is NOT a tv baby/toddler at all!! I could not get him to sit still and watch any show at all for more than 10 seconds! Until I discovered signing time!!! He IMMEDIATELY turned around to watch and was over- joyed that it just so happened his favorite signs were on tv!! I never even knew the show existed!! Needless to say this has been a once to twice a day event of watching full episodes together and him ALWAYS going away with at least 3-4 more signs he can remember right there! He is now 20 months old and saying and understanding over 40 signs on a daily basis!! We are expecting our 4th child in a couple weeks and we can't wait for him to be almost fluent when teaching his new baby brother/sister!!! Thank you Signing Time for all you do!!!

We love Rachel, Alex, Leah and Hopkins!!!!

I was very pleased with the content covered on the videos. My daughter is 17 months and signing 20+ words and learning new ones everyday. A part of the greatest success was helping me learn signs that I can use in everyday life with her. I learn as much as she does. The songs and singing/signing are unparalleled! So great. My 9 year old even loves the videos too.

The down side is that the graphics are cheap and for what you pay for it's not fair. The animation is amateur at best.

The cost almost put these out of reach for my girls. My husband said no way would he pay that much. I had to take donations from family members, it was embarrassing. With contributions from my mother, father, my aunt, my uncle and my husband's father, I had enough to get this. So I expected the best quality everything and it definitely missed the mark.

But I love Leah, Alex and her mom and the songs on the dvds are very special. Overall, I would definitely rather have the videos than not.

The QUALITY & EDUCATION will remain long after the price has been forgotten!!!

I have the entire DVD & music collection; however, I did not purchase them as the whole collection. These DVDs are just the BEST I can not go on enough about them!! I am a Spanish teacher so the idea of my 2 & 5 yr now being tri-lingual is just beyond words. I had began learning to sign before but did not keep it up so now with BST & the whole collection my children & I can learn together. This collection is money EXTREMELY well spent. BST is now my new baby shower gift!! Thank you Rachel and family.

We have five children under 10 years old who are each learning different things from each of your videos. It is a blast watching to see who learns and remembers what. Since signing is new to our family we are pleasantly surprised each time one of our children signs something. People around us watch in amazement. Thank you for putting so many talents (signing, smiles, singing, lyrics, videos, etc) together to make such a fantastic tool.

We love Signing Time

I purchased the first full set for my grandson when he was 1. It was an extravagant birthday present, but it was oh so worth it. He loved the Baby Signing Time DVDs, board books and flash cards. At about 14 months, he started loving first "Zoo Train", then "My Favorite Things", then all of the collection. He knows all of the 26 letters and we have great fun communicating with both words and signs. I have 4 children and have already purchased the entire set for my Daughter's twin girls in California, who are now 2. I was hoping that my two daughter's would share their DVDs and books with my third daughter's one year old daughter (who only has the 4 baby signing time DVDs), but that is not the case! Everyone loves their DVDs and books too much to part with them, even though the grandchildren are 3 and 2.5 years old. I am now purchasing my 3rd complete set of Signing Times. I am hoping that when my son has children, that one of his 3 sisters will lend them some of their Signing Time DVDs and books so I don't have to purchase my 4th set. I am not really complaining. The educational value is superb! All 3 of my grandchildren are fluent in speaking and signing their colors, letters, shapes, basic words and love learning!!!! Thank you.

Well worth every penny!

I grew up with a special needs sister, who was a micro-preemie and had special needs do to that. My younger brother was also born with a severe hearing loss. (Completely deaf in one ear, a moderate-severe loss in the other.) We signed with him, but as a child I never learned as much as I could have/should have. There just wasn't much out there as far as products. My family did the best we could- with the resources that were out there, but we had NOTHING like Signing Time. Now, as an adult, I have five children- and a few of them are special needs. I have tried teaching ASL to my children so they could better communicate both with their uncle, and to help with their own communication challenges. My children have picked up some from my instruction, but it's at times been daunting and frustrating. From the moment we received the Signing Time Collection in the mail, my children have been watching and begging to watch the DVD's. They've also picked up on so many more signs than they ever did with their prior instruction. I am absolutely amazed and delighted. This is likely the BEST investment we have made in recent years. I know it's pricey, but I would HIGHLY recommend this product! It's entertaining and educational. (And like others have said- my husband and I even love to watch the videos with the children.) We love Rachel, Leah, Alex, and yes, even Hopkins! Thank you for putting out a product that has reached so far into the lives of so many!

Wonderful!

I wish I could take the time to review each individual dvd, and eventually, I want to do that, but I wanted to write my overall thoughts here.

I love this product. I've just been introduced to signing time about a month ago, and as an 38 year old mom of 7 learning ASL, I have found them invaluable to me and my children. I've checked into the other children's sign language products out there, (after seeing Signing Time), and these by far exceeds them all. Rachel is beautiful. Not because of her looks, (though that too), but her spirit and life she puts into this product. How she speaks to the audience. Her explanation of the signs are excellent. The songs, performance of the songs, etc... are superb. I can't say enough. Alex and Leah and Lucy are adorable, as are all of the children that participate.

I started watching the videos "out of order", so we were all in love with them by the time we got to see DVDs 1-3 in Series 1. I love these too. No, the "entertainment" is not what the following DVDs offer, but she was just getting started, they were feeling their way around, and seeing what they wanted to do, if they were going to continue, etc.. This series started out for her family and friends, after all. I still think volumes 1-3 in series 1 are better than other sign language DVDs from other sources. Yes, Rachel seems shy in front of the camera in the first three, and doesn't talk as much, but the signs, information, and children are of good quality.

As far as the comments about Series 2 not having as many songs. I feel that Rachel went above and beyond with the songs and performances in the first Series. It takes lots of effort and talent to write these songs, and come up with the program. I think the format in the second series, though different than the first, is still of the same great quality that we've come to expect from Signing time.

As far as price. I think they are a worthwhile investment. If it looks like a lot to buy the bundle all at once, and if you can't afford that, nickel and dime it a few at a time. Again looking around at other products, whose quality is not as great, the prices are the same as an individual price in the Signing Time Series.

I love the flash cards, bright colors, clear explanations and pictures of Rachel signing the signs. I haven't seen the books yet.

I am in no way affiliated with Signing Time, (though I do plan to join the Academy soon), I don't know Rachel personally, I'm an average consumer.

I feel Rachel's story is touching, what she has experienced with Leah and Lucy, and I know it's not any more unique in countless other stories, but as a Christian, I must say, I think God gave Rachel Coleman special blessings of talent, (before motherhood)and special blessings in her girls. What she had done with Signing Time is an excellent contribution to all who come in contact with it.

The whole team deserves props, her sister is also a talented writer/creator, and her father's music...

Thank you Signing time for opening the world to ASL communication for us. These vocabulary CDs, will wet your appetite for learning more of this beautiful language.

Worth It!!!!

I have been an educator for children with special needs (mostly Autism spectrum) for over 11 years and I can't believe I just found these products 2 years ago! ALL of my students love these videos and EVERY ONE of them has learned some signs form these, even our completely verbal kids love to sign along. The quality is wonderful and I even find myself singing the songs to myself when I'm not at work:) We are expecting our first child this year and I am already beginning our collection. If you have children that watch videos, these are MUST HAVES!!!
